Transportation Solution Architect

Providing architectural guidance for development and infrastructure efforts throughout the Florida Department of Transportation. Focusing on replacing old technology with “as a Service” and cloud-hosted solutions. Shifting the Department away from traditional N-Tier architecture to Service Oriented Architecture.

Owner

Providing consulting services for cloud technologies with a primary focus on M365, Azure Cloud, Windows Virtual Desktop Services, and AWS Cloud. Working with clients to provide them with the best possible solution while keeping supportability and cost in mind.

Transportation Solution Architect

Developing transportation-specific products around the Salesforce and MavQ Platforms. Creating and delivering solutions to meet transportation agency needs in the areas of commercial permitting, contractor pre-qualification, DMV licensing, project management, grant management, and smart asset detection.

Cloud Architect

Architecting and deploying cloud-based solutions to suit client needs. Focusing on implementations requiring NIST 800-53 and FedRAMP level security controls. Creating cost-effective solutions by leveraging automation to minimize cloud spend and reduce required maintenance hours.

Enterprise Architecture Manager

Managing a team of 10 infrastructure and development focused architects. Writing and executing an agency-wide cloud first strategy. Continuously evaluating and PoC’ing new technologies to consider for Department-wide adoption. Implementing IT Change Control within the Department utilizing FDOT’s IT Service Management Platform (Cherwell). Developing a Configuration Management Database with dependency mappings to better analyze potential impacts from a cataloged change. Promoting, organizing, and training Citizen Development within the Department.

Enterprise Architect

Championing new or replacement technology efforts within FDOT. Responsible for developing application development and environment standards, along with enforcing those standards. Placing a Department-wide focus on Cloud Computing over on-premises infrastructure. Creating and executing an integration strategy utilizing a Service Oriented Architecture approach.

Enterprise Technology Strategist

Setting the technical direction for FDOT. Working with various business offices to implement solutions to augment productivity and minimize downtime. Focusing department efforts on cloud-based technology (Platform and Software as a Service). Writing Legislative Budget Requests. Participating in Invitations to Negotiate and scoring RFP responses for application development efforts. Working closely with the Enterprise Library team to develop an enterprise service bus strategy.

Project Manager

Managing enhancements and supporting FDOT’s Enterprise Library services, a set of APIs and applications that support all custom application development at FDOT. Managing FDOT’s Azure-related resources. Responsible for maintaining Subversion and Team Foundation Server repositories. First line of communication for all district application developers, who are asking for support. Facilitating a standards and technology workgroup, which maintains all development standards, guidelines, and best practices.

Technical Analyst I

Supporting FDOT’s internally developed applications, and the server infrastructure they run on. Migrating applications to new servers and promoting code from development to production networks. Working with the SSRC to coordinate the maintenance and upgrades of servers. Managing and upgrading a Citrix Farm from XenApp 4.5 to 6.5. Facilitating a standards and technology workgroup, which maintains all development standards, guidelines, and best practices. Working with the AASHTOWare product suite, performing several new implementations, upgrades, and migrations to keep customers on the latest toolsets.

Information Technology Consultant

Partnering with clients to advise them on how to use technology to meet their business needs and overcome problems. Designing, testing, installing, and monitoring new systems. Providing 24/7 support for mission-critical applications. Planning backup procedures, both onsite and offsite. Training clients and their staff on systems. Clients include, but are not limited to, medium-sized hotels, law offices, construction management companies and their job sites, and restaurants. Client sizes vary in range from one to fifty employees. Managed three staff members, deploying them to the clients when necessary.

T&AA Task Force Member

A volunteer role on AASHTOWare's Technical and Application Architecture Task Force.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Maintaining and enhancing AASHTOWare's Software Development Lifecycle.
• Setting and updating AASHTOWare's Standards and Guidelines, which are required to be followed for all AASHTOWare software development efforts.
• Providing IT consulting services to the other AASHTOWare Task Forces.
• Conducting the annual AASHTO IT Survey, which is prepared and sent out to all AASHTO member states.
• Conducting an annual technology review for AASHTOWare products.
